Renting to someone who home brews beer?

Has anyone rented to someone who home brews beer?  Did it make the place smell or create a nuisance?  My applicant asked me about having water in the garage...I asked "why would you need that?"  And he said, "because I home brew beer"  I'm not familiar with this at all, my fear is that he's lying, and he's either growing pot or cooking meth....but if he's telling the truth.....I heard it can be smelly and messy....so...has anyone had experience with this?  BTW:  I'm in Colorado, if it matters.

I know people that brew their own beer and haven't noticed any odors other than the golden scent of lathered brew.
