Short Term Rentals Statistics

Jessica Morris
Posted

I am looking to get into real estate investing and would like my first purchse to be a short term vacation rental on the Oregon coast, that I can put on airbnb. The coast during the winter is netoriously difficult as it rains all the time. So here is my question.. How do I go about finding out how many people rent airbnbs during the winter in my area? Are there tourism statistics out there that would help me determine if this investment would pay off? What are some other ways to determine if this investment would be profitable?

You can also investigate purchasing through a vacation rental management company. Ask if they have any homes for sale and then ask for a copy of their 2019 finances. Or let them know what properties you are interested in and see if they can show you the finances for a similar property from 2019 as a way of comparing how yours may perform.
