Smoke Smell in Rental

Looking at a 1/1 apartment in South Tampa Fl which is a hot area right now. Apartment was great only downside was that there was a slight smoke smell. It wasn’t overpowering however it was noticeable. Is that the kind of thing that can be cleaned up easily? Apartment does have carpet in one room and tile throughout the rest of the apartment. It also had been recently painted.

I've been using an ozone generator for several years and it works well for light smoke odors:

I recommend washing all surfaces, cleaning the carpets, and then running an ozone generator. That will usually wipe it out.
