String lights in master bedroom?

Question

I have an STR that is geared towards couples.  I'm thinking about adding LED string lights to the bedroom.  Should i do it or no?  Do the string lights cheapen the Airbnb experience?

I would opt for a coin-operated massaging bed first, then progress on to the lights for your next capital project.

Hey @Marc Shin, I would avoid as well.

You could do a soffit around the perimeter and drop LED lighting with fully adjustable RGBW lighting in there. The soffit wouldn't be terribly hard to build out and would look cool.

Otherwise it looks cheap and like @John Underwood said, a kids room.

I agree with the gang. If you're after ambiance & trying to elevate the space a bit, try some battery operated flameless candles. You can set them on a timer too.  They can look realistic.

You get an A for effort, you're always asking lots of questions on BP, i'm sure your property will be a great success!

I think it is cheap looking.  Counter argument would be, if you do not like it do not plug it in.  I certainly do not think it will add to your ADR or occupancy.

Could always just put a mirror on the ceiling haha

Hey Marc, I’d skip the string lights—they can come off as a bit cheap and more suited for a dorm room than a romantic getaway. If you’re aiming for ambiance, consider dimmable wall sconces, warm LED strip lighting behind a headboard, or flameless candles on a timer. Soft, indirect lighting will elevate the space without looking gimmicky.

Small design choices make a big impact on guest experience and ADR, so think about what aligns with the upscale, intimate vibe you want. Hope that helps!
