What amenities or consumables do you provide guests that sets you apart from the competition and earns you rave reviews?

- Welcome basket?

- Video games and pool table?

- Hot tub?

- Pellet gun, list of creatures, and a score board (aka @Paul Sandhu)?

A nice clean, comfortable house that supplies all the comforts of home. No gifts, just good communication and a well maintained home.

I target a higher end guest and try to follow the five senses mantra as soon as folks walk in the door: reed air fresheners, warm lighting, relaxing music, etc. Basically anything that helps guests feel at home on arrival. Many of my guests travel a long way to visit and the last thing they need is wondering where the lights are or how to find a late night snack. I’ve also had many great compliments on the treasure chest of board games and small library of books I put together from the local Goodwill for about $20 since many families come to hike the mountains and if they get rained out those are amenities that they were unlikely to have BYOBG’d. As many guests do, I also assemble and update a guidebook of local recommendations that rotate by season (since we have 4 where I live). That’s something that hardly costs a things and helps reinforce the reason many stay in a home versus hotel: personalization.

From my research, gift baskets had no Financial benefit to the owner, just an expense. And extra work. And sometimes complaints because they're not happy with what you leave them

We provide a lot of what I consider basics. TP, paper towels, a fully loaded kitchen, plenty of towels including beach towels and yes a welcome basket.

We consistently get positive comments on our well stocked kitchen and the welcome basket. A few snacks and a bottle of juice of some kind. It isn’t expensive at all and it adds to the experience. We don’t provide any alcohol.

A good medical kit, lots of ice trays and plenty of dishes round it out.

Probably the best thing we do is allow dogs.

I keep a well stocked kitchen because that's what my family always liked on a beach vacation. I highlight it in my listing and seems to speak to people who like to cook at home. Comfortable outdoor furniture and grill (I want to encourage as much time spent outside as possible 😉) I don't do welcome gifts except for special occasions or returning guests. I always keep wine handy as a gift whenever there is any unforseen inconvenience for a guest (power outage, broken amenity etc etc)

I used to leave a bottle of wine on the kitchen table along with a Cadbury bar.  Had a big influx of renters one day that all worked for the same company.  One kitchen table just had a candy bar.  The guys staying in there lamented "Why didn't we get a bottle of wine?"  I think I bought them some beer the next day.
