New member from Fresno, CA

Hi all. Greg here from the Fresno/Clovis area of Central California. I have actually been a member (lurking) for over a year but am now ready to jump into REI. I have a full time job so I am only going into this part time for now.

I have been reading J. Scott's book on flipping houses for the last week. I have no 'real' experience in real estate other than the home we own now and the our first home the we sold in 2004. I did sell my first home myself but the market was so hot then I couldn't help but get a great deal.

We are also co-owners of another home with my son and his family that we purchased in 2012. That house has given us an opportunity to get some rehab experience and we have started building relationships with a really good electrician and a couple of other handyman types.

From what I have seen on BP I should be looking to get involved with a local REI club to start building relationships but I have not been able to find anything around here.

Hoping someone with local knowledge on BP can steer me in the right direction for attending some central california meet ups.

My goal to build a stable quality REI business over the next few years and eventually transition into this full time.

Glad to 'meet' everyone and I promise to stop lurking and get more involved on the BP site.

Hi Greg P , and welcome to BP! I'm a "fix and hold" investor from the Bay Area in CA, and loving it! But you'll find a variety of every type of investor on the site, and everyone is amazingly helpful. Some pointers for you: The "Learn" link across the top navigation bar has lots of great info, and so do BP members! You can click on the "vote" button if you like someone's post or is helpful, and there are "awards" to earn on your profile. And you can tag people by typing @ before you type their name, then clicking their name at the bottom of the message box. Welcome to the site, and good luck in everything!

Alan,

Thanks for the welcome. We are actually in the process of getting our current home ready to sell. We are downsizing since it is just the wife and I at home now. Plan on using some of these funds to finance the new business.

I am looking to start with a mid-market rehab and flip. Hoping to be able to complete one this year. :-)

Checked out your website. You do wholesaling too? Do you have quite a few buyers here in town you are working with?

I'll fill out your buyers from when I am closer to buying time.

Hope to see you around town sometime.

Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself @Greg P. ! Taking an active role in participating in the forum discussions made a big difference in my growth as an investor.

So are you looking to doing a flip? Rental properties? What piques your interest?

@Mehran K. right now I am working on getting my financials in order. Looking to start with some smaller flips and maybe wholesaling if I can find a few. 'deals'. Reading thru J Scott's book on House Flipping.

Searching for some local inexperienced investors to see if I could help them out in some way in exchange for picking their brain. :-)
