Are you required to work under a broker as a new agent?

My wife is taking the classes this summer to become a licensed real estate agent.  Does she need to work for a broker?  What are the rules for new agents?  I appreciate any input and advice offered.

Yes. She will have 1 year to associate with a broker.  If she waits longer than a year she will have to retake the licensing class.
