Cleaning Protocols for Coronavirus

John Clark
Posted

Are there cleaning protocols/check lists/new practices and methods for cleaning an apartment before renting it out now that we have a covid-19 pandemic? Somehow I think that the old scrub and dust isn't going to cut it any more?

Are there any sources for best practices for cleaning in this type of situation?

The most cost effective way to treat for any airborne virus, is to use bleach according to food safety specs or regulations.

A bleach and water solution used for cleaning, is your friend. The procedure most ignore, is the time you must allow the solution to sit on an area to be sanitized. The simple spray and wipe actions you see, are for looks. Even in a sanitary sink at restaurants,  there is a time each item must be submerged before the item can be sanitized. And tben, dishes and utensils need to be rinsed with fresh HOT water.

It is an unrealistic proposal to expect there is a way to sanitize an area like a normal residence.

If there WAS a way to sanitize a public area effectively, we would have many fewer deaths at hospitals because of the contagion at hospitals.

Broom clean is good enough!
