Why can't I find in depth info about note investing?

Question

I've read a few books, watched some youtube, looked around BP, but can't seem to find a lot of details on in depth note investing.Seems like I have to invest a few thousand dollars into some course in order to learn. Any recommendations? TIA

Note investing is very niche still. There is very little quality, in depth information. A lot of the books and conferences are mostly "what is a note and why invest in notes" level info.

I hate to say it but the best ways to get started are:

- Get coaching / mentoring from someone

- Do a JV and reverse engineer what the person is doing

- Buy performing notes and start learning with something easy

- Buy a cheaper NPN and learn by doing

If you have a specific question myself and several others here can probably answer it.

@Nick Taylor, which books have you read? There is a ton of info in this forum and a lot of free info out there. But I agree, if you want it all organized and packaged neatly, it might cost you a bit. I typically recommend the book Paper Profits by @Joshua Andrews and @Chris Seveney's podcast (Good Deeds Note Investing). These are far from the only good sources of information but they are solid starting points. I also have some articles here on BP and  on the blog section of my website.

Agreed with Good Notes Podcast. What might be a good route is to not focus on note investing as a whole and instead focus on your exit strategy. What type of note investing do you want to do? Do you want yield month over month? If that is the case understand how to evaluate performing mortgage notes. If you're looking to do a different strategy focus on learning the metrics needed for that strategy. It's an easier way to get started when you plan for the exit or investment strategy.

What aspect do you find there not being information on? Some other books are Martin Saenz Note investing made easier and Alex Goldovsky on Due Diligence. Just searching through BP should give you a ton of information. Also happy to chat offline about sources etc.

NoteInvestingTools.com - they have inexpensive but really great classes and a lot of free blog material.
