Ive seen a couple of meetups in provo but nothing current.. Is anyone interested in starting a provo meet up?? Im BRAND NEW to real estate and im trying to add/receive as much value as I can as a REI.. I know there are a lot of investors in the area and I think we could start something consistent.. Great! Well I think that as a group we should decide the dates and time that work best for all of us?! I dont really know how these meet ups go I.E. the schedule.. are we suppose to have a guest speaker?.. is it a casual meet and greet?
What is everyone expecting? Im not trying to make it to complicated but I want it to be beneficial for everyone! Lets get this started! I think we can get some real traction in Provo!

@Stewart VanValkenburg organized a meet and greet 4 months ago in Provo and he and I were the only ones that showed up. I live in Central Idaho but have 4 properties in Utah (2 in Provo) and would like to meet others interested in networking. My son lives in Provo and also purchases real estate with me and would likely enjoy meeting and learning with other Provo investors.
I too would love to attend a meetup closer to home. I've been actively looking but seems there aren't many in Utah County. Having a speaker would be great but I think the biggest benefit would be the networking opportunities.
There seems to be some interest. Let's do a little poll.
1. I would rather do an evening, lunch time, or Saturday meetup?
2. I won't come without a speaker or I'm mainly there for the networking?
3. I wouldn't mind a neutral place like a restaurant or I'd prefer somewhere more formal? (Jeremy Maughan or I would be happy to host at our respective offices. Alternatively we could rent out a meeting place at a hotel or the like but I think most of us would rather spend money on food and a place to meet instead of just on a place to meet.)

I'll offer this up if anyone is interested in buy and hold. I have a vacant clean unit (2 bed/1bath) in a duplex in South Orem that I have owned since 2005. (New tenants are moving in Aug. 1st.) I would be willing to spend 15-20 minutes to give a tour of the duplex and outline renovations/expenses/tenants over the years. I just had a rental open house for this property on Thursday, and had over 50 prospective renters show up (received over 20 applications). I would be able to do this around 7pm on Monday. Afterwards, the group can walk to Chili's or In N Out and talk about important topics like the Dodgers and the Steelers. If there are enough people, we can iron out the details.

I am a local investor, what did you have in mind when you say "hosting?" Jeremiah offered his place up, we would be happy to host at my office as well.
I guess what I have in my mind is the "guest speaker" would just share with us their experiences with real estate. How they got started, going into some of their deals (finding, financing, renovations, numbers), what their goals are in real estate. Also talk about what is successful here in Utah, primarily Utah and Davis county maybe?? And then open it up to a Q&A and then just connect for a bit. If that sounds like something you would be interested in that would be awesome!

3) a neutral place...food is priority over place when it comes to $$$ :)

Looks. Like there are a couple of people interested in doing a real life tour of a 13 year buy and hold rental. (2000 sq. Ft duplex. Two 2/1 units. Bought for 168k in 2005.) Come by at 7pm tonight. 1482 S 200 E Orem if interested.
1. Weekends or lunchtime is best for me.
