What programs have people used and which have worked!

Question

I have received information recently from connected investors, land academy, casual Fridays REI, and others, and I’m wondering who has tried any of these blueprint/training services, how have they worked out, and what do folks recommend? Are these courses useful/helpful? Is it fine to just go in alone? Thanks!

@John Comeau I spent 75k on a real estate guru training and it was helpful for me. That specific training was forced to close up shop but it was helpful for me. So don’t just take the advice that an expensive training program is bad because it is a guru training program. Over the years, I have met with some of these “gurus” and I have gotten to know them on a personal level and they are really doing some high level real estate deals or are doing a ton of quantity and they are making a lot of money. Doing coaching on the side keeps their skills sharp and is a pretty easy way for them to create another income stream. But their coaching income is quite a bit less than their real estate income. So just because they are considered “gurus” doesn’t mean that they are scammers.

It seems like the furor over "guru" programs has died out a little on BP, but the consensus still stands: Don't waste your money.  Or time, honestly.

You could get more information from a few books or asking questions on the forums here than a few hours from a guru program.  And there isn't any upsell here or in books.  Those programs invariably have a higher tier that will cost just a few (thousand) dollars more and give you the "real info," or more "hands on coaching", or "better leads."

You learn the best by doing.  And second best from people that have been where you are.  Everyone has different levels of comfort they have to get to before acting, but at some point you have to jump in and get through the scary!

This is a great resource and there is a ton of experience here!  @Nathan G. has been here giving advice and help for 11 years!  And there are a ton more people here just giving value for free.

Everything you need is available for free on Biggerpockets if you're capable of educating yourself. If you're not good at research or figuring things out on your own, then a course may be beneficial but you need to be very careful. I've seen people on Biggerpockets spend $40,000 or more on coaches that didn't teach them anything.
