First time home buyer in Texas

My husband and I are selling the mobile home we’ve been in for two years (at a significant profit surprisingly) and we’re looking at moving into Texas to buy our first house. We plan to stay a year to renovate, then move on to the next house and keep the first house for a rental indefinitely. Could someone explain to me the steps of finding an area or neighborhood to purchase a property in?
