Historic Soulard is Active Historic Soulard offers both day and night attractions. Some daytime attractions include Anheuser-Busch brewery tours and the Soulard historic farmer’s market. At night, Soulard turns into one of St. Louis’s premiere nightlife scenes for young adults. Molly McGurks, 1860s Saloon, Carsons, and I-Tap are some of the popular watering holes in the area. Additionally, Soulard is said to have the second largest Mardi Gras celebration in the U.S., just after New Orleans. The Hill – Home of Yogi Berra The Hill offers a historic look into St. Louis’s Italian restaurants. Every turn on The Hill has either an Italian restaurant, a bakery, a family-owned grocery store, or a neighborhood tavern. Recently, coffee houses, studios, retail and small businesses have been added to create added energy and attractions to the area. On a history note, Yogi Berra and Joe Garagiola grew up on The Hill. Additional St. Louis Neighborhoods You Need to Know For the past couple of decades, Central West End has boomed as a hip and upscale neighborhood. It has more than 75 businesses, including 34 restaurants and bars, 18 retailers of apparel, books, jewelry, and gifts, and 11 art galleries, furniture, and home goods stores. The Loop is ranked as one of the Top 10 Streets in the U.S. by the American Planning Association. It truly embraces why St. Louis is considered the melting pot. What gives The Loop its energy is Delmar Boulevard, an eclectic main drag lined with an array of ethnic and American restaurants, music clubs, coffee shops, clothing stores and movies. Clayton is considered the second downtown in St. Louis. It’s upscale, casual, and the area embraces small businesses by offering collections of galleries, hotels, apartments, and restaurants. Kirkwood is a quaint town famous for farmer’s markets, a train station, and a convenient, centralized location.
