

Results of Parkland Citizen Survey
Last month, I told you about the annual Parkland Citizen Survey being conducted by the City of Parkland to get the very latest information and opinions from citizens like yourself. Well, the results are in and they are quite impressive. I am happy to say that the number of Parkland residents who participated in the survey is up a whopping 243%, with 634 responses recorded this year. The basic breakdown is as follows:
People who move here, tend to stay here. 25% of respondents have lived in the Parkland area for 11-15 years, while 23% have lived here for 6-10 years.
The most populous subdivision among respondents was Heron Bay, with 21% living there. Parkland Isle (11%), Pine Tree (10%) and Cypress Head (8%) were next in line.
The age group with the highest number of Parkland residents was 46-55 year olds (32%), while 25% of residents are between the ages of 36-45 and 22% are between the ages of 56-65.
97.2% of respondents reported they were very satisfied with the overall quality of services the City of Parkland provides.
Parkland is a great place to live as well as raise a family, with 98.4% and 97.7% ranking it as excellent, respectively.
Parkland's leisure and cultural facilities fared pretty nicely overall as well. The City Parks received the highest praise, with 96.5% of respondents saying they were excellent. In comparison, 93.7% of respondents rated the library system as excellent, 93.2% rated the equestrian center as excellent and 91.4% gave the amphitheater an excellent rating.
The most significant factors that contribute to the quality of life, according to Parkland residents are: safety (99.4%), appearance of the city (96.8%), road conditions (94%), recreation (92.7%) and sense of community (92.7%). Parkland residents reported that they feel very safe in their neighborhoods during the day (98.4%) and at night (94.5%) as well as in the parks (98.4%) and commercial centers (day: 98.6%, night: 92.6%).
The top five city services Parkland residents thought were important were 1) contributions to Parkland schools, 2) park field maintenance, 3) library services, 4) special events and 5) code enforcement.
The top three issues that Parkland residents want the City to focus on in the next three years are schools, police services (crime prevention and safety) and wedge development.
As you can see, the results of the Parkland Citizen Survey are pretty clear. This is a great place to live. Thanks to all who participated in the citizen survey. The City of Parkland truly does care about all its citizens and depends on your input to continue making it the best it can be.
