What Happens to my Deposit When Buying a Home in Maryland?

When buying a home in Maryland DC or Virginia ..

It is customary for a deposit to go along with the offer, Your Realtor should direct you on this. 

Your deposit is a sign of good faith that you as the  Buyer will go through with the deal and close as you are promising inside your offer

Now, once that offer is accepted and ratified..

Then your deposit is usually held in a separate account that belongs to the broker or in some cases, you maybe asked to write a check payable to the settlement company you choose to use.


But most importantly, your deposit is. . . . .
