International Investors - What Makes ME SOOOOO Different?

I was recently asked a question by an investor in Australia that I am sure that many of you may be wondering, "WHY ME?" What the investor was very plainly asking is, what makes me so different than all of the other Detroit Investment Property Suppliers? And, this question is more than fair.

Allow me to share a brief list of things that make me a bit different. As I share the following, it is more personal in nature. Yes, there are some standard professional things that you should know and expect. Hopefully, my blogs, calls, books and referrals prove my professional qualities. What I have decided to do here though is share is a list of 5 reasons that extend beyond the norm...

Personally:

  1. (Let me start off with a bang and share that in order to learn how to properly service you as clients) I Scooped Probably Over 1,000 Pounds Of Dog Poop By HAND (I did have on gloves and bags). Ok, I realize this may be a bit strange, so allow me to explain. Although I have been investing since I was 19 years old, servicing International Clients was something completely new to me a while back. So, in order to learn, I volunteered to work for the person who was the absolute best at servicing International Clientele in Detroit. It just so happened that my advisor adopts dogs into his home to find them 'Forever Homes'. In exchange for his tutelage, I agreed to volunteer to do whatever he asked. And, this included digging ditches, splitting wood (He is also an Urban Farmer) and yes, cleaning dog poop daily for more than 15 dogs. While this might not seem to be a huge deal to you, it was for me. This is because I am asthmatic, shouldn't do any outdoor work due to allergies and poop is just, well, POOP!
  2. I Live Vicariously Through My Clients. This is another one that may seem strange. But, what I mean is that I truly get excited about the businesses and investments of my clients as if they are my own. This fact brings a whole new meaning to, "Your success is my success!"
  3. I Run A Goal Fulfillment Company. When people ask me, "What do I do?" I quickly and excitedly answer by telling them that, 'I help investors achieve their financial goals!' I happen to do this by sound education and consulting, using the vehicle of real estate. Even as the window for Detroit Investment Properties closes, I will still be able to assist my clients with additional opportunities. Notice, my response didn't include simply selling houses. Actually, there is nothing exciting to me at all about simply selling houses. And, I could actually generate even more income with a different business model if I just wanted to sell houses. This business model to service you is a choice. And, this choice I would gladly make again! I love what offering the right opportunities mean for my clients and their goals, not just selling houses.
  4. My Clients Are 'Stuck' With Me. Ok, so my clients aren't actually stuck. But, I say this jokingly, meaning that it is not my intent to end my relationships with my clients when the current investment opportunity in Detroit ends. It is my goal to build lifelong relationships and always add value to my clients.
  5. I Allow My Life To Be Hard For You. This may be the weirdest fact among the entire aforementioned list. I actually prefer to work with clientele that is more difficult to work with and less profitable than other opportunities that I have. Because I came from such humble beginnings, I still emotionally relate to the 'underdog'! And, I always want to, no matter how many 0's my bank account is filled with. Interestingly, I have found that it is much easier to work with wealthy investors and investment funds. And, even though more of my business is moving in that direction, I fight hard to help the 'smaller guy'! My time working with the 'smaller guy' usually includes from perspective clients: lack of communication, strained follow up, extreme sales resistance (Actually, I truly don't do much "selling" although I am very diligent in follow up.), difficulty making decisions and having a tough time sticking to the decisions made. Nonetheless, it is always so gratifying when my follow up, care and patience with clients ends with me helping them to invest in something that is really beneficial for both their present and future. It makes it all worth it when they thank me for not giving up on them and when they begin to experience returns with peace of mind that was so difficult to believe that they could have.

While I have more things that I could share, I think that I might include additional points in a Part 2. For now, for those of you who send me referrals, please feel free to include the points in this blog (or the entire blog itself) when speaking on my behalf!

For those of you who I have spoken to, please know that I am still interested in helping you achieve your goals! And, while this will always be my heart, I will not always have the same ability to do so. But, here is my commitment, no matter how large things continue to scale for me, although I will be limiting the number of new clients I personally work with just based on time, I will not neglect any clients that I have already done business with. This is no matter if you have purchase 2 houses or 20!

Don't delay, let's build something great for you together!
