3 Ways to Find Investors That Can Become Clients

Hi BP community,

My name is Cierra I am 27 years old I reside in Southeastern Michigan in a small suburb in Metro Detroit and I am an Investor's Agent.

I decided to start this blog because I see so many agents and investors asking questions in regards to an agent and investor relationship. Some negative, some positive, and some indifferent. I am a licensed REALTOR in the State of Michigan and on the buying side I  primarily work with investors. I started out with retail buyers but my long term goal is to be a full time investor so I decided to switch gears and go after business with investors. I would rather look at home with someone who can see the bigger picture rather than look at a home with someone who can't see past a yellow wall.

So far the experience has been interesting and fun. Over the course of the next few months I will share tips on how to attract investors as clients and how to add value to the investors business. This is my first post so I want to keep it short and simple so I've come up with 3 ways to find investors that can potentially become clients:

1.) The most obvious of the 3 is RIGHT HERE on BP !!! This should be one of your top lead generators. I'm sure BP has members in all 50 states. Search the area you work in and see who's commenting on that market. Add them as a connection and introduce yourself and your desire to work with investors. BP has been an incredible lead generator for me when it comes to prospecting investors as future clients.

2.) FOR RENT SIGNS - This may sound crazy but I've done it. When you see a for rent sign call the number and ask for the owner. If it's a company they probably already have a system in place to acquire properties but it doesn't hurt to leave your information in case something comes up. If the owner is an individual then ask if he/she is looking for more properties and if they need help doing so. Take them out for coffee get their criteria and get to work.

3.) LOCAL REIC - I recommend any agent that wants to work with investors to attend at least one meeting a month. Keep attending, keep reminding people that you want to work with investors and not only will someone give you a chance but you're adding to your education as well.

So far I've learned to work with investors it's a little bit more work but for someone like myself it's actually fun. Thanks for reading my first post there are more to come !

  2. Hi Cierra,

Great post! I just wanted to take a moment & introduce myself to you, as I'm a Real Estate Marketing Specialist & Real Estate Scout. I'd like to add you to my group of investors & if you'd like some assistance I'm here to help as well!

I agree with all three of your points, they are all equally important.

    Take care!
