Here are some fun facts about Kansas City History:
Kansas City has a sense of uniqueness, a way of doing things that is truly our own. From its conception, Kansas City has been full of personality and has developed a long and diverse history. It was first documented by a French soldier and illegal fur trader. Étienne de Veniard documented the area while he was on the run from authorities for deserting the military. He documented his observations to regain favor with superiors, and it worked. He was rewarded by being able to command the first fort in the area. Continuing its interesting history, in the late 18 and early 1900s Kansas City opted out of prohibition multiple times and, even when prohibition became mandated by federal law, political machines kept it from affecting the city. During that time, it was a Midwestern sin city. Kansas Citians, then and now have a lot of pride in the city. It is not unusual to see people sporting clothes, accessories, or tattoos showing off where they are from. The city is unique, the people are unique, and so is the market.
