Sometimes You Just Have To Make That Jump

Normal 1576203816 Leap Of Faith Blog

My previous show guest Tyler Chesser was able to be referred to quite a bit of opportunity and some opportunities that maybe he wasn't qualified for at the time and so he kind of took a plunge to dive into certain opportunities that he may have not had experience with.

Such as multifamily real estate, as well as commercial real estate, office buildings, retail buildings, apartment buildings, development opportunities and in fact, one of the first referral opportunities that he had, was a large portfolio and he was able to sell off a large chunk of properties and really learn the business through that. Jumping into the deep end of those type of transactions, as well as what are investors looking for, what type of deals are going to work, what type of deals are not going to work, what are the different factors required to make sure that he is able to get deals across the finish line.

His business is referral oriented and you repeat business-oriented, how to make sure that people are successful, these are things that he had to figure out in the beginning, because he is giving an advice or he is consulting with his clients and saying, "you know we're looking at this deal here and we believe it works because of X, Y, & Z.", he really, genuinely wants to be right on that because he has the interest to do repeated business with his clients. He sais that it is extremely important and you could look at the business in many different ways, you could say, "well if we do this deal, let's just close the deal and collect the commission and go on", or you can say, "well, maybe there's a long term relationship here" and he thinks certainly real estate, in particular, is a very long game and if you can have that approach which is something that he adopted due to mentors and other people much smarter than him, as he sais.

The story before that, he ended up joining the fraternity and ended up learning about leadership in his fraternity and really taking the forefront and ended up being the president of his fraternity later on in the years. He really thinks that experience drove a lot of courage towards of being a pioneer and stepping out a front of the pack and saying, "you know what, I don't know what's gonna happen, but I'm confident in my abilities and I want to just try this, because if anything, I'm going to learn a lot, maybe I fail", but I don't know about you but, he can certainly look back and say that,

"Most of the failures that he had in his life are probably more impactful than many of the successes"

, he sais that maybe he wasn't conscious of these things at the time but he was certainly subconscious of the fact that worst-case scenario he's gonna learn a lot and he was also confident his abilities and how to communicate, how to market, how to learn and he became committed to learning and was really driven to take control over his career and so that was really a big driving force.
