investing in real estate as a visa holder
Hey everyone,
Does anyone know a good real estate lawyer who works with non-US citizens? I'm closing on my first turnkey rental property soon and would like to explore BRRRR, partnerships, setting up an LLC and getting BLOC for my next deal. However, my H1B visa defines that I can only perform "active work" for my W-2 and real estate needs to be "passive" in immigrations's point of view.
I'd like to connect with any lawyer you guys know who has experience with this and discuss my strategy. Thanks!

Hi Jessica, as a previous workvisa (L1) holder and now a green card holder I faced the same challenge you did. I will send you a message with the Lawyer I worked with through my whole immigration process.
I was coming from Canada and they have some tax laws that impact whether getting an LLC is actually the right strategy. For me it was getting a C-Corp to do my real estate investing through. I would recommend getting a good CPA that also understands the tax implications as well for your situation.
