Also the ac coil can loose freon and freeze the coil letting the fan run and burning out the fan from overheating and maybe a fire.

I have read smoke clings to the inside hvac coils so they may need to be cleaned to remove lingering odor...which is expensive, but I had a house and the 40 year owner smoked until her death and we didn't, we just put a gel odor absorber in the return air duct.

Some may include heating coils with fans in areas like foyers to help with recovery.Hydronic radiator/baseboard systems are generally heat only.

This is basically a hot water coil with a fan behind it that is designed to fit in the recessed space below kitchen cabinets.
