With the recent report of large national tenants (Cheesecake Factory, Mattress Firm, Subway, etc.) already announcing that they will not be paying April rents, what will be the long term impact? 

I've never understood how people in government think that all landlords just have piles of cash stored under our mattresses. 

Ten minutes ago some of our brand new inherited tenants left here with a pickup truck containing a bunk bed set (and four twin mattresses total), a dresser, a new burner pan for their range and a toilet flush handle so they can replace the shoestring they're using to pull up the flapper.

If you stuff your cash in a mattress you have to deal with the risk of inflation, fire, and theft.

You can put your saving in a 401K or in the stock market .... and you know how that's playing for many folks right now or stash it under a mattress. 

Under the mattress? 

Disney usually means focusing on families so plenty of space to sleep extended families are winners.You don't need to go crazy with expensive linens and $2000 mattresses.

If you throw the bed out they'll claim it was a priceless family heirloom and the mattress was stuffed with cash.  

Problem is, if he had put the monthly difference in the two loans into his mattress at 0% interest, he would have saved $93K over fifteen years.

Think about it from the other direction -- how do you sell a $1000 mattress for $2000?
