I've talked to a few Venezuelans who had similar experiences during their own recent upheavals who survived it with 1/10th ounces of gold as the currency failed. 

It's a nice thought, but thinking about flipping or building new in markets you have no connection to when rates are so high is likely to be fool's gold.
