It isn't that sub-30k properties are undesirable, but looking for them in high crime areas will make your goals very difficult to achieve.Think of it this way: imagine you're a higher quality housing choice voucher holder.

Some programs do a voucher, where they mail you the voucher, you fill it out, then send it back, THEN a check is cut, and mailed back to you, and you have to deposit it.

Very  very few on Section 8 get caught up because they don't have the ability to get a 2nd job (it would ruin their housing voucher) and they don't the same fiscal resources.That all being said I'm sure our experiences vary based on the how the state runs the program.
