Would it help to work part-time in real estate (like an agent or assistant) to learn the ropes, or can I learn enough through self-education and BiggerPockets while working my W2 IT job?

@Jeff Costa I don't know of any buildings in Myrtle Beach that REQUIRE you to use the onsite management company, but several make it a little bit tricky to self-manage or use a third-party property manager by restricting access to amenities. 

The point of hiring an agent is to have a professional handle that for you.I self-manage and understand the importance of meeting people in person to get a feel for them.
