You may not have a pilot light but you do have an electric ignition. 

Occasionally an igniter goes, the TPR fails, the drain valve goes, or the thermal coupler.

I then took the key off my key ring, put in the ignition of the old mower and said, "here, tell them they don't even have to come talk to me.  

Usually the first one they offer is called Ignite.

there was no smoke order that aired out on its on over night and few days afterwards, by the time they did any work it had been two weeks. and a apology was given, no serv-pro was used. and it wasn't due to carelessness in process of stirring the fries grease dripped over pan and it caught on fire, and quickly ignited. and she already recieved payment from insurance company.

And yes, there were a lot of lint at at the bottom of the machine.... just waiting to be ignited.

But most modern furnaces have electronic ignition, so there is no pilot light to burn.
