@Aaron Grant from what I have heard, to much paperwork, and fear that it will trigger an audit, which I guess used to be kinda true many years ago but from what I have heard, not anymore.

Now, after you've refused to rent to someone, and they wind up homeless, they land on the city's doorstep, and the city listens to their sob story, decides you are wrong, and suddenly you have tax audits, building inspectors, and enough alphabet soup to DROWN you in your life.

They have to deal with a lot of inspections and audits, etc., but there is always a waiting list and the tenants are pretty mellow for the most part.

To set-up for payment processing on your own and pass PCI and/or ACH requirements can be expensive (development, audit and assurance) and, as @Jimmy Moncrief warned, the liability is almost certain to outweigh the benefit of brand control.For a small operation, I would recommend you find a storefront hosting provider or payment gateway and simply throw the session to it from your website.

Both of the places I've lived were in old renovated hotels, turned into 55+ housing units in the old downtown areas.As an owner/manager, you'd have to deal with several govt agencies, audits and inspections, but you'd always have a waiting list, from my experience at least in CA.
