There was a GLOBAL point, in the GLOBAL answer to this ALL-ENCOMPASSING question, that as said at start relates to O.P. question. 

(esp. that even in the US it hardly works due to the high attrition rate), a big reason why it doesn't work (as a business, not as a one-off deal) is because of: 1) lack of density in most Canadian markets outside of GTA, Vancouver, Montreal and 2) house price are too high.

After doing a lot of refinancing, I now have substantial liquid capital and am looking to start investing outside of Canada.I recently spoke to a fellow Canadian investor who suggested investing in the A and B+ areas of Ohio for cash flow.
