The vast majority of RE Investors are served by simple appropriate insurance coverage or holding the real-estate in an LLC also with appropriate insurance coverage.There are also multiple levels of LLCs owned by Wyoming companies or complex trusts but these come with lot of cost and complexity.

You might want to look into "Checkbook Control" where you create an LLC and have your IRA own the LLC.
