If anyone is familiar with the keyword alerts on biggerpockets then Google Alerts should be a breeze. google.com/alerts allows you to put in and save keywords into Google.

I recently inputted the keyword searches you can create in your profile and it is invaluable to getting content that is important to you.

Maybe mentioning new haven, bridgeport and wallingford will trigger some key word alerts. 

Also set up some keyword alerts that will notify you of when topics of your interest are discussed.

I would suggest setting up keywords alerts for your areas of interest around the metro and it will send you a notification when a local meetup is has listed that keyword.
