It's my understanding that you are not required to accept rental assistance unless you've actually signed something agreeing to the terms.I would contact the tenant and let them know you are not extending/renewing their lease.

Your current lender should be willing to work with you on this as far as moving the closing date back and extending a rate lock (if necessary), in my opinion, in effort to remediate the situation.

We asked up front to lock in the loan and I do understand the term sheets said 30 days but there was no mention that the lender was not extending the loan or rolling it into a new loan and now I have to pay the consequences of this.

Yea the Eviction Ban is extended yet again till late this year.Frankly don't see why people still buy / 'invest' in multifamily properties now that local state & fed gov seem in favor of free housing and against small private ownership altogether!
