I actually ended up renting directly with the boat owner rather than through the site/platform.

Those sites provide a platform which makes it easy to track progress and ensure VA's integrity.

I agree with @January Johnson, try some other platforms that have reviews for you to go off of.

Theres this really helpful platform I use called Housefolios.  

Also, there is a rental calculator built into the platform that you can use for free 5 times and then you would need to purchase the pro subscription.
