As an example, I can rent a garage for the same price per square foot as I can an apartment  but the only things I have to "maintain" are concrete floors, metal doors and driveways....no toilets, holes in drywalls, ruined carpets, broken doors, cabinet, etc, etc, etc!

When I purchased it for 62k, it had sheetrock but no floors, cabinets, fixtures, appliances, or exterior concrete.

We have kilz'd everything, used ozone generators, thoroughly cleaned duct work and vents, cleaned out dryer vent, replaced all cabinets, kilz'd and replaced all flooring, painted everything (on top of kilz), so basically replaced and sealed everything except for insulation in attic and insulation in unfinished part of basement.
