There were something like 15 fines which added up to over $28K, and the majority of these fines had absolutely NO relation to the property itself, and only to the previous owner who had been foreclosed upon.

Having just sold our house on the south shore of LI I can tell you first hand that $16K/yr in taxes on a single family home is absolutely nothing to look forward to.I completely understand if you have friends and family in the area but in terms of finding a location for your personal/business (RE or anything else) future I would look elsewhere.

I have seen some bad stories about leasing coin op machines, you might try searching for threads about it here on BP.If you manage your rental yourself or you have a PM you trust, it is easy to collect the coins every month or so.If your rental is in a questionable or hidden area, I would recommend getting the coin vault guards installed to prevent damage from tampering.Kimberly is absolutely spot on!
