If someone doesn't pay their rent, then it can take over a year to evict them, and then I'd be left paying that mortgage and fees for a lawyer, etc.

The reverse mortgage company wants buyout and I dont have over 200k to pay out.

BUT...if you're American and can still get loans in the US (the silver lining of having to still file US income taxes while living abroad), then why not use leverage?   

We almost went with a loan that we have to pay all the cost upfront and then get reimbursed on the back end and that was just not something we were willing to do.

There were lease violations disrespecting the other neighbor's leased space and harassing the other neighbor and they smoked in the property against lease, lied about conversations, has made up stories about plumbing issues that plumbers couldn't find causes to, tried to get a dehumidifier and force me to pay, accused me on two different occasions very agressively in regards to the heat/electric service.
