Any good Mexican lawyer will advise a foreigner against buying that type of property, unless the foreigner wants to assume the risk of course.It's important to realize that, even though Mexico is part of the OECD, it is still a developing country, alongside with the Dominican Republic.

If you want to run the scenario by us tell us the ARV on the property and your total loan amount and we can advise a little better on the specifics.  

One huge piece of advise from our experiences - is talk to a local credit union and find a place that can do 5% down conventional (may be a 5 or 7 yr ARM) instead of 3.5% FHA.
