Any other firefighters and first responders out there in real estate investment? I work for Los Angeles County Fire Department as a firefighter/paramedic in the West Hollywood area. Currently invested in over 700 units of multifamily and always looking to connect with fellow first responders.

I’m a former first responder, 14 years in various roles. Some as a police officer, some as a 911 dispatcher, some as a firefighter/EMT (FF-I, FF-II, then driver-operator on engine company and truck). Even did a part-time stint with AMR on a BLS ambulance (I guess I get bored easily, LOL). Fun times!
Then I decided to turn my side-gig of real estate investing into my full-time focus. That was almost 20 years ago and while I really loved my former vocation, I’ve never looked back. Since that time I’ve raised way over $100 million from investors and bought over a half a billion dollars of real estate. Man, it seems like two completely different lives.
The difference is I worked for a small city (less than 50K people) and you work for a REAL fire department—I grew up watching squad 51 and engine 51 on my tiny four-channel color TV, LOL. You see more trauma in a 24 hour shift than I saw in a year.

@Franklyn Abreu
Hey Franklyn,
I worked 2 years in NYPD 52nd Pct, I currently have been working the past 6 years as a police officer in Westchester County. Congrats to everyone else who works for public service as well as finds time to invest in real estate. Stay safe out there!!

Hi Michael. Have a partnership with a team out of St. Louis on a few LOI's we've submitted recently. Respect for making the transition to helicopter pilot!
Are you down in Lewis county? If so, My storage units are in your area. I am really focused on picking up more properties in the Centralia/Chehalis area. I think there will be a lot of growth in the next 5+ years. Would be great to connect.

This is an amazing thread!
I’m a Career firefighter in Norwalk, CT. Currently assigned as an engine driver/pump operator. Licensed realtor in NY (where I live) and CT. And a rental property owner and investor. It’s the perfect dual full-time career situation until I retire to just managing my investments. Living the dream!

My first apartment (in an 8 unit) after graduation from college in Chicago near Wrigley Field/Boystown was owned by a firefighter. Ironically, there was a fire, in which totally gutted 3 units, with minor damage in others, none in mine. It occurred at 2am. Fortunately, I was up at 2 am, was alerted by another resident. All residents got out safely. The owner struggled with insurance money, but in the end rebuilt with higher rents. It reminded me of the importance of smoke alarms, as I could hear mine as from across the street during the fire.
Full time Realtor and EMS Chief in the Toledo Ohio market. Realtor investor specializing in distressed, foreclosed, and short sale properties. We have some phenomenal deals in the Toledo market. I have purchased homes myself as low as $5100 with a rental rate of $800+. Plenty of great deals left.

@Hud Floyd thanks for the post. Nice to connect with others in public safety. I work for a city police department in Southern California. Started RE investing just a couple years ago and now looking to grow it. Meeting up locally would be nice too.

Hello Hud and thank you for starting this thread! I'm glad to see a bunch of brothers and sisters from around the country getting after it.
I'm a lieutenant with Central Pierce Fire & Rescue just south of Tacoma. Been at it 18 years and still have a blast! I like your idea Hud, of some of us getting a meetup started. Let's see if we can work together on some haves, wants and needs!
Congrats on your success in multifamily. You also work for an amazing organization in LACo. Do you see yourself moving into helo ops? ;)
Brian Burke, I too listened to your episode a year or two ago and it made me happy to hear fellow first responders like you and David Greene become so successful.

Aloha Mike Neubauer! Working an amazing job in an amazing location. Haven't made it to Maui yet, but loved Oahu and Kauai. Didn't want to come home. Great to hear from you.
