Anyone out there using Zumper? Thoughts?

I've noticed some of our local "competitors" (we don't actually have any competition, because we think we are the best at what we do, but I digress ;) ) are starting to use Zumper. I'm not terribly familiar with them but did sign up for an account because I noticed it will post to Facebook Marketplace, which is an area we don't currently use. I see they have the regular set of tools that I have on other platforms (I use Cozy right now), including credit check, leases, etc.

Anyone else using them and have any opinion one way or the other? We mostly use Zillow for our listings but this seems like another way of putting our advertising out there in other places.

My website syndicates to about 40 different websites, including Zumper. In the past year, I got most of my inquiries through Zillow but Zumper was a close second. Now that Zillow is charging to advertise, I've stopped using them and Zumper is my #1 source for leads.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I would reply as I believe my experience with Zumper is very relevant to this discussion. I recently listed my property here in Southern California on both Zillow and Zumper. I received 75 contacts on Zillow and zero on Zumper. Zillow rental manager is completely free and it provided contact information for each of the people that reached out to contact me. I’m going with Zillow over Zumper 100%!

OK, well I'm here to update my own thread :)

So I used Zumper for the latest property we had listed for rent. I also used my other customary listings, which are Apartments.com, Zillow, and my own website.

Setting up the listing with Zumper was easy. The listing appeared to be stuck in "pending" purgatory for over 2 days (the listing says it may take up to 24 hours), which was a bummer and required an e-mail from me to Zumper to get it un-stuck. Someone got back to me the next day and got it unstuck. A few hours from there I saw the ad pop up on Facebook Marketplace, though I didn't check the other sites it's supposed to post to.

I have to say overall it worked really well as a listing service. I got a boatload of contacts - most of whom I believe came from Facebook Marketplace, though I can't say for sure - and virtually every contact was local and had a phone number right on the message for responding, which made call backs simpler than Zillow which makes you look up the number on the ad. I didn't use any of their ancillary services but I was not unhappy with the way it worked and I will certainly take a look at what they have to offer.

I tracked the total number of leads from the three services (I don't count my website since it has nowhere near the kind of traffic as the other places, it's more for follow-up) and Zumper came in first by a long shot, with Zillow second and Apartments third. My ultimate renters came from a Zumper lead. In terms of lead quality, I think my first few Zillow leads were probably best quality but they also had the most tire kickers and dreamer/searchers. The leads I got from Zumper were less qualified as a whole than Zillow but also more ready to move forward than goof around.

In any case, if you have an opening I would definitely give it a try. Disclaimer is that I have no relationship with Zumper whatsoever, just a guy who used them and relaying my experiences.

@JD Martin I have seen a lot of leads for rentals come through Zumper, and it's been a good tool to use on top of Zillow. I have experience fake listings of mine on Zumper and I have need to contact them to pull down the listing. They were very quick to pull down the listing and it maybe my area, or the fact that they are "newer" working out the kinks for their listings.

@JD Martin  I've been using Zumper for several months and have been happy with the service.

I like it better than Zillow and it is free.  Mainly because the interested parties phone number and email show up in the inquiry as opposed to Zillow which hides emails and forces you to log into their website to see a phone number.

I am getting good leads from Zumper too!

Amazing how this turned bad.  People familiar with FB marketplace tell me that it completely overrun now - could that be the source of Zumper’s problem?   may also be market specific?

Thanks for the feedback - I'm glad to see some other people have some success with them. I'm going to give them a shot on our next listing and see how it turns out.
