How To Achieve Work Life Balance

First off, let me start by saying there is no 50/50 “libra scale” balance, as much as we wanted it to be…

But lucky for you there is a way to find “balance”. The reason I put this into quotes is because YOU SET YOUR OWN DEFINITION. For me, balance means doing what I love and being who I love consistently. It means I’m taking charge of my self development, day to day. When you look at my schedule you’ll see meetings at all different hours, different days. I have no set schedule for business meetings. I do, however, prioritize attending my home church (Faith Movers Church) every Wednesday and Sunday for service, and I have committed to helping a friend in his youth ministry on Tuesdays. But even then, I may miss a couple days for an event or travel. So, my days are not set in stone. The way I “balance” my days are by having a daily checklist that consists of: emotional, spiritual, physical, financial, and mental. This way, at the end of each day I can ask myself, “Jasmine, did you increase your development in these areas today?”.

I remember I was reading a book by T.D. Jakes and he said that where your focus is in one area, you will lack in another area. This means that your balance will not be 50 on your family/50 on your business, instead some days it will be 60/40 or 80/20, but as long as you are focusing on what you think needs more focus then you will be fine!

I want you to remember that in your business, make time for what you WANT to make time for. This also applies to life. Find your own version of balance.

Questions you can ask yourself to figure out your “balance”:

  1. What is my definition of balance?
  2. What does a balanced life look like to me?
  3. What do I want to focus on?
  4. What do I need to focus on?
  5. How can I plan my schedule where I do things I want to get done and things that need to get done?

And finally…

6. Can you outsource what you need to do to make time for what you want to do?!

If you answer all of these questions, you should be able to figure out your life & work balance.

Best wishes,

Jas
