Twitter,Twat,Twop

I'm the type of person who likes to incorporate the future into my business ventures. The social media phenomena is something that's very mysterious, and very generous at the same time. One thing I do not understand is the social network Twitter. I've read two books on how to increase my followers, and build rapport with my twitter account. After trying what has been suggested, I have now became extremely bored with the appeal of writing articles, and spamming them repeatedly through the day. Does this method actually work for you and your business?Give me some tips to become a better twitter follower! and you can follow me

  1. Brandon I think you'll find Twitter followers based on notoriety - a personal reputation as edgy and topical. For buiness social networking where you'll actual get a return on your investment, I'd be looking at LinkedIn. The atmosphere is businesslike, other members are looking to connect with like minded business people for genuine financial transactions and employement opportunities. Give it a try if you have not already done so. I think you'll be pleased. Daniel Dreifus

  2. thank you for the advice Dennis. I started deleting people who are constantly spamming links, but it appears i'll end up having 2 twitter follows, but from two of you all saying its about "engagement", that means the ones who properly use twitter are out there, and I need to find those individuals. Thank You all for the advice

  3. Brandin - Twitter has been a great source of contacts for me. I've sold products, filled events, found deals, and even found a private money investor using it. I used sites such as Twellow.com to search for several types of people to engage. Real estate people, potential private money lenders, general people in my local area, and media people that might be interested in what I'm doing. I did the max follower game for a while and followed over 5000 people and in turn got to over 5000 followers. It was a waste, because there's no way to actively engage that many people. So I'm steadily cutting the number of people I follow to under 1000 and it'll probably end up being a lot less. I agree that there's a lot of spam and wasted posts there, so I watch who I follow and immediately unfollow people that use twitterfeed to post, because they're just having stuff posted for them, and I unfollow people that simply post links or "motivational" quotes. I also use twitter karma occasionally to unfollow people that haven't posted anything in the past 30 days. The bottom line is that it's all about engagement. I look at twitter as the ice-breaker to meeting people that I'd one day like to meet in person. I'm @dennisfassett on twitter.

  4. exactly bryan, it appears to be a spam wasteland....I do engage in conversation, but it appears its just a place to post bit.ly links to check marketing...I hear so many stories of people making great contacts on twitter, but I just don't see that happening.

  5. Find those people that interest you and then engage them. I have made a ton of great contacts using Twitter . . . engage, engage, engage - just like here on BiggerPockets!

  6. Twitter is a spam wasteland IMO....I never have got it.

  7. Brandin, I too have had issues with building the wealth of followers on twitter that others have, but I will follow you. @sdiraexpert
