Real Estate Success: It's NOT about the HOUSE!

After playing this game called Real Estate for quite a while now I've realized I still have a lot to learn.....but I've acquired a lot so now it's time for me to give.

Many people say that real estate is about the house and the numbers.  While I agree that you must know your numbers and they must make sense for the deal to close, I will boldly state:   Real estate is about people, NOT houses.

When a seller calls you (after you get their attention using whatever type of marketing you are using) you need to listen.  If they are calling you to sell their house most of the time it's because they NEED to, and a lot of the times that need to sell their house doesn't come from something positive.  It could be a recent death of a family member, divorce, financial hardship, or medical condition.  These are not positive situations we want to find ourselves in, and unfortunately they are going through them when they call you.  Be empathetic and compassionate.

When renting or selling a house you are providing that person or family with a house that they are going to make their home.  Most of the time this is an exciting transition for them because they are upgrading from an apartment to a house, or moving into a newly remodeled house.  This is an exciting time for them, do everything possible to make the experience truly outstanding.

If you are a wholesaler then you have your cash buyers....bring them good deals, be honest and they will be repeat customers.

And finally, you have your team.  The Realtors, mortgage brokers, title companies, attorneys, inspectors, rehab team, hard money lenders and private lenders.  These are all the people involved in your success, without them, you wouldn't be where you are.  Always be ethical and fair in your transactions and your team will always have your back.

People first, then money.

To your success!
