Second Home: Beach and Country Are Your Top Choices

People considering a real estate investment in Florida may be looking into a second home because it’s an exciting time to branch out and add to your portfolio. The market seems to be reflecting a general uptick across the country, which means that more people are now exploring their options as it relates to real estate investment. Read on to learn more about why beach and country locations are so popular when picking out a second home.

In 2014, vacation home sales surged up by 57 percent. In Florida, the story was great for those considering selling a home, too: research from the University of Florida Bureau of Economic and Business Research reported that most Northeast Florida purchases were coming from Virginia, Georgia, and New York. The majority of these were initiated by baby boomers hoping to make the jump down south for better climates.

The average age of purchasers was 47, and the combined incomes for partners moving to Florida were $94,000. Part of the reason that Florida has become so popular in recent years is that even with the recent housing crisis, people still were interested in making the move down south. Most of those people hoping to make the move were attracted to beach property, too, something that Florida has in spades. When looking into the details of the research study, such as number of visits, travel distance, and cost factors, about 47 percent of those planning to move to Florida are looking for beach property.

It’s not really a surprise that beach property boasts so much potential around all of Florida’s coastal areas, but because of the surge in demand and the relative consistency of people looking for this kind of property, it’s a great way to get your foot in the door when investing in real estate.

Although beach communities around Florida can revel in the drive bringing people down south, one of particular is the St. Johns County Nocatee development, where seekers of Jacksonville homes enjoy the climate, and national headquarters for tennis, golf, and professional football. Beach homes with a luxury appeal are not likely to ever fall out of favor with those already living in Jacksonville or the droves of people who look to make a move here in the coming years. If you’re looking for luxury living, Jacksonville has a little of something for everyone. Get started on your dream property hunt today.
