We're in a rural area that doesn't have many/any lodging options nearby so most of our guests have a reason to be here.

If I have the choice of staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge or the Grand Floridian vs a vacation rental I'm going to take the resort every time.

I have run the numbers on a beautiful piece of land and cost of building lodging.

This is filling the STR properties with tenants, helping my investors see strong annual net cash flow.Here’s the current (As of the August 2021 report) lodging landscape in the greater Sedona area -- • Hotel Rooms: 2,789 • Timeshares: 1,504 • STR | Single Family Home + Condo/ Townhouse: 992 equaling 2,877 bedrooms (2.9 bedrooms avg per house) • STR | Home Sharing Apt + Guest House + RV + Private Room: 347Overall, STRs outperformed the past few months compared to the previous two years.  

We just spent the weekend in Vegas and found our lodgings through airbnb and it put us in a hotel. 

A bunch of speakers were preaching the "your time is now" mantra and one guy spent an hour doing a commercial for his fishing lodge (that he didn't build, he was born into it) at about $1,000/night.

My plan is to host the semiannual retreats at kid friendly places (like Great Wolf Lodge) so that the dads or other family can play with the kiddos while the moms are in morning meetings and spend the afternoons/evenings with our families. 

Mammoth Mountain is also scheduled to build an entire new village and multiple hotels at main lodge.

@Melanie Dupuis, Red Lake Ontario - Five Lakes Lodge was it's name.I'm convinced the real estate was 20% what it should have been because it was only habitable for normal people 20% of the year! 

One of us had a career change after purchasing, so we haven't rented out any guest rooms since 2009, but we do live in the main lodge section every summer for the past two years.
