I would imagine there comes a point where certain types of areas more or less demand that you show up with your hand out, but I recently took over a building in Cicero, IL that had been run like this.

Once cracks turn up in the economy, look for:- an abrupt pivot in Fed talking points - rates will decrease precipitously- more free hand outs in the form of stimulus  (to buy votes)If you buy now (even at higher rates), you can always refinance later.

Go to your county auction and hand out your card to the buyers at the end especially the ones spending $$

And in July, we have our annual Trade Show where you can connect with a lot of different vendors.Plan on flying in on Monday or Tuesday morning - attend the Meeting to make connections Tuesday Night - there are also a few smaller networking groups that will be meeting that same day in the morning, the next day in the morning.

I see it in MA all the time entry level manufacturing being attracted to the suburbs. entry level manufacturing jobs teach basic job skills. showing up, taking direction, etc.A hand up not a  hand out for these communities. 

(plus the convenience of not finding another roommate is involved so that is why discounts are handouts but rather a mutual benefit)

Never has worked, never will.Giving a handout would be seen as much 'nicer and more humane' to someone in need rather than asking them to WORK and get PAID. 

On the other hand If I decide to GC the project myself I am debating back and forth as to use the same overall scope of work to hand out to the individual subs or create several specific SOW for the individual trades in order to bid the work.  

Likewise, the people who take the government handouts who do not want to work, they have no financial freedom.
