I would add the following:First, get really proficient at estimating repairs—both honestly and accurately.

@Parris Taylor Not really along the lines of a management system, but I recently hired a bookkeeper which has proved to be a great resource in better understanding the financials of my business and in how my accountant is better able to manage my tax return.

Both my father and grandfather had their own construction businesses I grew up doing work with them everything from residential rehabs, commercial work, machine operating, clearing land, landscaping etc.My wife grew up working at her family's stone quarry, from masonry work to use of demolitions.
