@Rick Baggenstoss  one take away is for all of you who think you get liability protection from an LLC  think again  LOL.This guy was speculating he should have boarded the houses up... in many of these areas its financial suicide to rehab and rent...

We had a similar situation in my town - last year a husband murdered his wife and then committed suicide in the house, leaving a little baby without it's parents.

Theft, murder, drugs, fire suicide, stupidity all becomes normalized activity after awhile.  

That's like committing career suicide .

Hello BiggerPockets family,My wife and I own a multifamily apartment building, and we had a terrible tragedy a couple of days ago.We await the final police report, but there was an apparent murder/attempted suicide in one of the units.So far we’ve spent $20k in crime-scene cleanup and they still have another day of work to do.  

In addition, I had a suicide in my building years ago.
