I ask EVERYONE for references (other contractors, plumber, electrician, framer, hvac) and then I have several to select between.  3) I've had the patience and determination to push through all the permits/inspections and dealing with Pittsburgh laws -- I don't like that stuff but find it worth it as rents are high in the city. 

I'm open to specialist suggestions: tilers, framers, drywall/ mudders, plumbing etc.Thanks in advance!

I know of a large contractor in my area (drywall, framer, finisher) who used to sub-out his own employees (board hangers) to his own company.

I used to be a framer and finish carpenter and they loved having skilled volunteers. 

I am in need of a licensed and experienced framer who can build the rear addition.

At any rate, turns out our framer uses Menard's doors all the time and was able to install those despite the plans calling for custom-sized doors.

.#2 have/know well six trades for every major....so six masons, six HVAC, six framers, six foundation guys, six roofers. 

It has rained at some point about everyday for the past 5 days as we are entering spring rain season here in East TN, so my framers have been bouncing between our project and a new construction project as weather has dictated. 

Ask finish carpenters for framer referrals.

After demo is complete, let your framer install the frame.
