My first thought was to buy a house/duplex and charge rent, put the profit from rent away with money from work, then sell the house for a decent upside.Factors would include getting a good deal in the first place but as of now, I would still need traditional financing to do so.Any and all suggestion would be helpful and appreciated.Thank you in advance!

Most property managers I know don't charge rent or owner payments fees.The important thing to remember is that a good PM does much more than collect rent.

I heard lots of stories of parents buying apartments so there children have a place to live in 4 years and then either sell the property or charge rent to students in the future.

You get the amount you agreed upon- you can't keep charging that, there's no pet to charge rent for.
