There are a few reasons for this but the main driver is the fact that in Georgia the county tax commissioner has an implied lien over ALL real estate owned by a given taxpayer, not just the property or properties with overdue taxes.

For the record, I was not implying that you did not go to college (it was my assumption you had) - I was only making the point that you paid to go to college to learn what they taught, notwithstanding that the knowledge itself was available elsewhere, and likely for less.
