All three kids have Down syndrome, and were abandoned by their biological families because of it. 

Repeated failure, brutal humiliation, having your dreams shattered, your finances destroyed, feeling the contempt and ridicule of your acquaintances, the disgust and shame of your family, the abandonment of your fair-weather friends.There's no one more dangerous than the person who has nothing to lose.

But one of the toughest questions that I am facing, and I wonder if anyone else faces it, is WHEN to abandon (sell) an asset and redeploy that capital? 

Stay away from homes that have been abandoned.

I've turned to treasuries as buffers in the short term (ie - TLT), yet the market will always rebound (who knows if this is full on Bear or another manufactured correction), I wouldn't abandon the market completely.

Yet we did have a local kindergarten-3rd grade school overwhelmed & abandoned by local residents because off a large influx of asylum seeking illegals, but that's another story. 

I have a number of other things I need to get to, but let me answer these last couple of questions before I abandon this thread and move on...
